A 3-piece poster project designed to raise awareness about Rhode Island’s declining mussel population. These posters are designed to be placed alongside popular rivers in Rhode Island where mussels are present, such as the Pawtuxet River and Blackstone River.
Eastern Elliptio
This poster raises awareness about Rhode Island’s most popular mussel; the Eastern elliptio, and its symbiotic reproductive cycle.
Parasites!
This poster is designed to inform of invasive species which are part of the reason why native mussel species are declining.
Call to action!
This final poster is designed specifically for the Pawtuxet river and includes links to multiple organizations that help maintain or clean up the river.
Rosta Posters & their Connection to Modern-day Memes
With the help of an anti-religious theme, I explore the connection between modern-day memes and Mayakovsky-style ROSTA posters. Both are rapidly-produced vehicles used to transport ideas quickly. They are simple, to the point, and able to be understood by a wide audience.
